Ask an Umpire
Do you have a bowls situation which you would like clarified? Please contact our Umpire Co-ordinator, John Hulme or Don Lyne with your request and we will publish it in Hawk Talk. Last week's scenario: The opposition has put the jack down and several bowls have been delivered. Your skip suddenly realises that the mat is on the wrong line. What happens next? Answer :- The Mat must be moved to its correct line as soon as it is discovered to be wrong. The Jack however must stay where it is even if it has been spotted on the wrong line.
This week's scenario is as follows. One of your team's bowls has picked up the Jack and followed it into the ditch as a toucher. After all bowls have been delivered the Thirds have to measure for shot which involves your toucher in the ditch. What is the correct way to do this measure? See next week's Hawk Talk for the explanation.

Ryman Healthcare - Stroke Van Visit - Monday 20 January 2020

Ryman Healthcare are supplying our Club with a visit from the Stroke Foundation Heath Van (which they sponsor). The visit will take place on Monday 20 January. We strongly recommend that members AND friends avail themself of the service on the day. It will only take about 10 minutes and is free (if anyone would like to make a donation of say $2 by swipe card it would be accepted by the Foundation). All details are confidencial and prinout of results supplied for possible reference.
The process:
- Two minute questionaire
- Follow up review by qualified medical representative & blood pressure taken
- Advice on results and possible action that may be require by your own GP
- Supplied with printout on general health information plus reading of blood pressure test
That is it. No pain, just ten minutes of your time.
The Van will be set up for commencement at 10.30am and we are recommending that bowlers on the day come between 10.30 to 12.30. From 12.30 till 2.00, the Van is open for non bowlers on the day, partners, friends, neighbours & relatives. This test is recommended for people of ALL AGES.
