From our Committee of Management
Members, I welcome you back to bowls, following the Christmas and New Year break. Wishing you well for 2020 and the remainder of our bowls social and pennant season.
December has been a very busy month in our club. With great efforts from our Functions Team and helpers, this has reflected very positively on our Profit & Loss Statement. Our Xmas break-up dinner was a huge success and enjoyed by many members. Again, well done to all our helpers.
Friday Night Meals (tonight) 3rd January
Our chef is on a well-earned Xmas/NY holiday break with his family. However, for this week (tonight) you will be in for a pleasant surprise if you wander down to the Club for the regular Friday night raffle and members' draw.
Some of our ladies are taking over the kitchen to provide members with the option to purchase a variety of enticing dishes at very reasonable prices. Get to the Club early if you want to ensure your first choice, as the numbers of each dish will be limited. You will find a menu on the wall near the kitchen. Please support these ladies, with their great 'last minute' initiative, which is typical of the great volunteers our club is blessed to have.

Club Championship Grand Finals - Sunday 22 December
Men's Div 4 - 11 Singles .... Stuart Errey v Ken Mansfield
First to 25 shots.

Ken got off to a good start winning 7 of the first 10 ends to be 8 shots up, then Stuart picked up 4 shots on the eleventh end to get back in the game only 4 shots down.
The game see- sawed between the two players with Ken holding a lead of 3 or 4 shots up to the 23rd end when all of a sudden Stuart made his presence felt,
to be down by only 1 shot. Ken's experience kicked in to take the next three ends to regain a 7 shot lead.
Stuart, not dispirited, responded to win the next three ends to go into the last end 1 shot down. Ken won the last end by 1 shot to win the final 25 to 23 after 30 ends played.
Peter Ward was their marker, while Joan Ward looked after the scoreboard.
It was an exciting match to watch.
Congratulations to Ken on his win and to Stuart to be runner-up.

Mixed Pairs .... Rhonda and Curly Kemp (the Two K's) v Jeni Whytcross and John Jackson (the Two J's)
Winner after 18 ends.
The 2 K's (Rhonda and Curly) leapt out of the blocks to have the 2 J's (Jeni and John) wondering what are we going to do? The score was 10 - 1 after 8 ends. They were jolted into action and managed to hold their own for a while to get within 2 shots at 12 - 10 after 15 ends. The 2 K's won the last three ends to take out the Grand Final by 5 shots. Score was 15 -10.
A low scoring match, with many great bowls put down by both teams.
Well done! Finalists - John Jackson, Jeni Whytcross, Rhonda Kemp and Curly Kemp.

Congratulations to this years winners ... Rhonda and Curly Kemp
