From our Committee of Management
Additional 'No Smoking” signs have been placed around our greens, reinforcing our club's policy, which was previously communicated to members. No smoking also applies within the bowling greens' shelters.
Environmentally we are moving away from foam drinking cups. Alternative options are being investigated to suit inside and outside circumstances. To assist further, we would encourage bowlers (as many do), to bring their own water bottles on bowls days.
Our shading and seats are close to arriving. Finally! This will require volunteers to offer help to erect over 2-3 days.
It's looking like April will become a construction zone within and around the club, with both greens carpet replacement and carpark upgrade. Updates will be provided, when further details become available.
All our committees, function and bar staff, barefoot bowls helpers and volunteers are extremely busy at this festive time of the year. Please be understanding and assist where you can, as it would be greatly appreciated.
I take the opportunity now to wish all members the very best for the festive season. Enjoy your break with family and friends, and have a great Christmas.

Bowls News
Saturday & Mid Week Pennant : It is with great pleasure that I can advise ALL Pennant Teams that the COM has agreed to join in the Festive spirit providing 1/2 Price Drinks after this week's games. For Saturday it will be Happy Hour from 6.00pm until 7.30pm. I know this is 90 Minutes and yes that is what is agreed to given some teams have a bit of travelling. May I suggest Responsible Drinking and if you wish to enjoy then leave the car at home.
Mid Week Pennant will be afforded the same however I leave the 'Time Line' to our illustrious Bar Manager.
I Look forward to players staying around for our after game 'wrap around', a quiet drink, fellowship and hopefully success.
Terry Driscoll - Bowls President
From the Bowls Committee Please note there will be no Pennant Practice on Saturday, 4 January or Saturday, 11 January - it is incorrectly listed in our Club Handbook. However, watch out for more information regarding a 'game with a difference' being planned for the afternoon of Saturday 11 January.

Roving Around with Angry
In the Turkey Triples, Grumpy Trev (Trevor Moore), 'Oh my Knee' Tezz (Terry Drscoll) and myself had the fortune to play the 3Ds, Dad (Rob), Dan and Dave Priddle. From most games I like to take something good out of the game. Robert (Dad Priddle) plays the wide hand very well the specialist.. on a full length he drew a 6in toucher. Well the angry one said that's a challenge and snuck one up to it. But the specialist Robert took to the mat and he did it again then turned around with a grin, how's that. All I could say was how good. I now practice that shot at full length.
Then last Friday evening my mate Owen (Landry) took on coach Dan in the 1/4 final of the Men's championship. In very slippery windy conditions they went end for end. Then O bear got a little touch but Dan with his first bowl drove 3/4 length. I'm thinking that's brave. O man put another in, so Dan drove again. Splat dead end. O went again 3/4 length. Wrong move. The coach focused like a kelpie dog, eyed off the kitty and rounded up 3 shots. This shattered Owen for a while, but after a couple of ends he regained his thoughts and got back in the game at 14 to 18 on 23rd end. Then that fine kelpie just took control of the paddock running out the game 25 to 14. He's a good em.
Then yesterday another couple rounds of the Bold and the Beautiful...
First up the Beast (Terry Driscoll) and Miriam fronted up to Jacko (John Jackson) and Jeni. Using sneaky tactic team Beast reversed rolls after roll up. It seemed to work, getting away to a solid start (hot) but Jacko with great gusto and encouragement rallied Jeni's confidence and made a great game of it, so much that team Beast started to run at the head allowing the double Js to win 9 out of 10 ends straight to be 15 to 14 on 17th end. Last end 1 shot to J and J game over. Winners Jacko and Jeni.
On next rink another episode of Bold and Beautifull was on...
Rock and Rollers (the Kemp's) danced around Ben (Lombardi) and Lorraine (Finlay). Curly and Rhonda were relentless end after end what a game from them. Loraine was very solid as usual but Ben couldn't go with that barrage of green bowls. The Rockers danced to a very solid win. Well done Curly and Rhonda.
Then up on the top green Men's and the Ladies championship semi were on.
What 2 great games.
Sandra (Griffiths) and Judy (Medlyn) were locked into a tremendous battle with many looking on (great to see the support of these club events). It was the tightest of games with head after head so tight it only took Judy's great focus to get her to the end. Judy eventually wore Sandra down to come away with a win. A great game ladies but Judy did eventually smile with a great joyous grin after the game.
It keeps coming..
Gadget (Graeme Wright) and Ninja Chris Hodges) were also locked in battle. Ninja Chris got away to a good start getting a good lead. Every time when Gadget got the mat he moved it about throwing different lengths. This got him back in the game to be 14 all after about 2hrs. Ninja was playing with great confidence and determination sticking to long ends. Gadget played lots of wonderful shots, this didn't faze Chris he kept his focus and eventually won by a couple of shots. Well Done Ninja.

JOKE
A wealthy Arab Sheik was admitted to hospital for heart surgery, but prior to the surgery, the doctors needed to store his type of blood in case the need arose.
As the gentleman had a rare type of blood, it couldn't be found locally, so, the call went out.
Finally a Scotsman was located who had a similar blood type.
The Scot willingly donated his blood for the Arab.
After the surgery, the Arab sent the Scotsman a new BMW, a 5 carat diamond , and $50,000 dollars in appreciation for him giving his blood.
A couple of days later, once again, the Arab had to go through a corrective surgery.
The hospital telephoned the Scotsman who was more than happy to donate more of his blood again.
After the second surgery, the Arab sent the Scotsman a thank-you card and a box of Black Magic chocolates.
The Scotsman was shocked that the Arab did not reciprocate his kind gesture as he had before.
He phoned the Arab and asked him: "I thought you would be generous again, that you would give me another BMW, a diamond and money ... but you only gave me a thank-you card and a box of chocolates."
To this the Arab replied: "Aye laddie, but now I have Scottish blood in ma veins.".
