At 55 years when I started to bowl ...
Tuesday Bowls
I've done the tennis and golfing too,
But now the foots in another shoe.
Lawn Bowls
At 55 years when I started to bowl,
You had to adapt to your Tuesday role.
Etiquette, rules, hand signals to learn,
A foot on the ladder you had to earn.
Saturday men's was a different game,
Upshots, high fives, not the same
As the Tuesday bowls.
I played on the green for the first time ever
I tried really hard but I wasn't real clever.
Division 1 were playing next door,
When suddenly one girl dropped to the floor.
What could they do with no one around,
And one girl taken off the ground.
The plan now was not the same
They had to try a different game.
The women
They asked me to play, I nearly said 'no'
They said 'Come on girl. Give it a go'
The first jack down I duly sent,
I closed my eyes don't know where it went.
And then
My first bowl landed on the side line.
The ladies tutted , a terrible sign.
'This is a disaster' said the one in the hat.
'We're going to lose now and that will be that.'
Oh dear.
My redemption came when the little white jack,
Raced to my bowl and stopped with a 'thwack'.
They said 'What a good bowl it would seem'
It stopped the Jack going off the green.

Club Uniform
As has been advised previously the Club has been successful in obtaining 2 Sponsors for our Club Uniform, they being Ryman Healthcare and Telstra Waurn Ponds. The sponsorship arrangements will commence in season 2020/2021 and at that time we will be Introducing and providing a New Club Uniform (Pennant Shirt) to ALL Pennant players. This arrangement has been approved by both the Bowls Committee and Committee of Management and we have recently formed a Uniform Sub Committee comprising of the following members: Ben Lombardi, Wendy Ballentine, Bryce Selwood, Miriam Falzon, Terry Driscoll and Ronnie Con Foo.
The Committee has commenced discussions and we are now offering ALL MEMBERS an opportunity to submit designs for our consideration. This is an opportunity for members to showcase their creativeness. Please remember with submissions, the Club's Registered Colours are Green and Gold, however we do allow White to be included.
Should you wish to submit a design then please contact Ben Lombardi (Mob: 0419 417113) or forward them to: ben@lomartworks.com
