Preparation for shading and seats for the both ends of our top green and, south end of the bottom green is well on the way.

We have spent the first part of the grant of aprox ($18,500)on the concrete pathways, that cost ($20,500) and have applied for the next payment of the same amount for the remainder of the project being the shade and seats. They will be about

($30,000)we have to fund ($16,300) from our funds as our part of the grant.

I have ordered all this equipment, it comes from Queensland so it takes time to build and get it here, please be patient as we are doing our best to get it up before it gets too hot, and provide seating as soon as we can.

We have also ordered new score boards for the bottom green, they should be arriving soon.

Also we have decided to replace the grass between the ditches and the new concrete with artificial grass, same as the centre green to make things neater and less maintenance.

Highton Bowls Club - Club Championship Events 2019/20

From one of roving reporters :

It's now getting to the finals and I would like to say how inspired with much joy to our so called( lower ranked) players doing so well. The games I stumbled across by being at the club at the right time was Johnie Farrell and his partner Ian game,t hen Crackers and Reidy, then the giant killer Diggers game I cannot remember who they all played but well done fellows. I have a feeling our coach has a bit to do with these inspirations. Talking about our coach Dan and Tommies game and strategy was right at the top end.

Fellow bowlers if you get a chance get along and watch some of finals please do so and watch some of the strategies and great bowls.

    Ian (Angry) Anderson.

    Junior Activities

Thanks to all club members who have offered to assist with our junior activities in recent weeks. We have had a number of school bookings from both Kardinia and Western Heights.

During the schools holidays we hosted a Roll Up Program and over the next 3 Wednesday afternoons between 4.30pm and 6pm we also have a BV sponsored Roll Up Program. This opportunity to try bowls leads up to a Secondary Schools Bowls Competition which will be held at Highton on Thursday, November 14th.
