Committee of Management Report
It is Spring, and the bowls season is upon us. I take the opportunity to wish members all the best for our 2019/20 season.
You would have noticed improvements around the green:
Middle green lighting - replaced / upgraded globes and cleaned lenses.
Top and bottom greens - concreting has just finished, paths and provision for Shade Cloth erection, once concrete hardens. We hope to have shade cloth up within the month. Thanks to Arthur Francis, Don Lyne and helpers, for what we have achieved to date. In the interim, please take care around these greens, until project work has completed.
Our Member's Handbooks & Membership Cards have finalised, and will be progressively available from this Saturday 14/9.
As the season begins, I thank all our valued sponsors.
For Members' we have introduced the following initiative:
“Members Bonus $250 Draw“ - to be conducted on the first Friday in the month (during bowls season). We will do up to 3 draws, in endeavour to reward a member present. This is in addition to the usual Friday evening Members “Jackpot Draw”. So by attending, first Friday in the month, you will have up to four chances to take some hard earned cash home!
That's not all, on these first monthly Friday's; we will be providing free music entertainment. So, like all Friday evenings (members and guest), come along and enjoy the meals, drinks, raffles, camaraderie and members jackpot draw. Diarise, as we kick off on the 4th October. Please let friends and guests know the benefits of being a Highton Bowls Club Social Member (at the very least).

Membership Draw
No winner last week, so it has jackpotted to $450 for this week.
If no one wins it tonight, it will increase by $50 per week rather than $25.
Members Duty Roster
John Wilkinson and Harvey Witcombe are on duty Monday 16 Sep to Sunday 22 Sep.
Following week 23 Sep to 29 Sep, will be Graeme Wright and Robert Young.

Ladies Tuesday Social Bowls
Ladies social bowls will commence Tuesday October 1st. same day as pennant. List of interested players and further detail on outside notice board will be available on 20th SEPTEMBER.
Please tell other members who may not see this notice .Also these days are open for other non pennant players from other clubs who may wish to participate.
Subway Triples Summer Season
Subway summer series 2 bowls men's triples starts Thursday 3rd October, get your teams together and register them with Rod Ollis.

The Saturday Selection Committee thanks all players for their understanding during the pre-season practice matches. With highly variable availability, it is certainly a challenge to select "settled" sides but does allow for some experimentation and opportunity. Dan
MIDWEEK PENNANT
Players are reminded that our training session on Monday, September 16th will commence at 9.15am. The September Information Session will be held after training at 11am.
From Midweek Selection
Our Practice matches so far have enabled many players the opportunity of playing in a rink or a position that they may-not have experienced before. Our low key approach has been deliberate due to the cold conditions and being so early in the season. Now that we have our top green open, this will allow us all to get in some vital practice on grass before pennant starts .

We have some standby emergency bowlers, if not required come match day please play triples between yourselves.

Geelong Bowls Region - Championship Events 2019-2020
A summary of GBR events for the 2019-2020 season has been posted on the notice board at the east end
of the club rooms. Entry forms are shown for those events with closing dates in September.
If you wish to enter an event please complete the entry form on the notice board and pay the $ 10
entry fee. Clearly list your name, and specific GBR event you wish to enter on the white envelope
provided and show the amount paid, then post the envelope in the slot beside the bar. GBR will not
accept late entries so entries will close at club level on the day prior to the date shown by GBR to ensure
that we meet the GBR deadline. (Please make sure that you are available to play on each of the dates
scheduled).

Kevin Smith Memorial Trophy Match
The annual Kevin Smith memorial shield practice match against City was held at City last Saturday. In rather chilly conditions Highton won the shield for the fourth year in a row. The Greer Little skipped rink of Christine Savage, Viv Stone and Rolly Flounders won the best Highton rink score on the day.

- Pairs Events - entries close on Monday 23rd September 2019. Ladies at 11.30am, Men's at 5.30pm.
- Veterans Events - entries close on Monday 30th September 2019. Ladies at 11.30am, Men's at 5.30pm.
- Novice Events - entries close on Monday 7th October 2019. Ladies at 11.30am, Men's at 5.30pm.
Entry fee of $10.00pp (covers all events) and is payable prior to close of entries.
