Bowls Section
GREENS: Please note that as of Monday 9th September we will have access to both the Synthetic Green (Middle Green) and One Grass Green. I ask that all members please respect the fact that our Grass Greens will not be running at any great speed initially due to the fact we have received 288mls of rain since the !st May this year. We have endured a rather wet and cold Winter with very poor drying conditions, so rather than complain about the pace of the Green please be grateful that we are able to be playing on a Grass surface at all.
Come Pennant we are hopefully of having both Grass Greens available for use.
SATURDAY PENNANT PRE MATCH PRACTICE:
Please note that the GBR has this year introduced a new Ruling re Pre Game Practice on a Saturday. Going forward for Season 2019/2020 there will be NO PRACTICE AVAILABLE FOR ALL VISITING TEAMS for ALL Divisions. Homd Teams can Practice up until 12.00 on Rinks NOT ALLOCATED to them for Pennant.
HELP: Due to Health Issues our "Anchor Man" Bill Filbin is unable to continue with his Role of selling Dim Sims, Salad Rolls etc plus the sale of Raffle Tickets (Saturday). If anybody can assist with this role within the Club then kindly contact either Terry Driscoll or Marion Lyne to discuss.
We take this opportunity to thank Billy for his Time and efforts over the years and wish him all the best with his health going forward.
Members Duty Roster
Graeme Whytcross and Ray Wilkinson are on duty Monday 9 Sep to Sunday 15 Sep.
Following week 16 Sep to 22 Sep, will be John Wilkinson and Harvey Whitconb.
Midweek Pennant
Midweek Pennant players are reminded that our training session on Monday, September 9th will commence at 9.15am. This weeks' practice match is against Cement at home, on September10th. Uniform, 9.30am for a 10am start, BYO lunch. All players are reminded to check the notice board for your team allocation.
Saturday Pennant players. The first practice game for Saturday players will be at City this Saturday September 7th where we will be playing for the annual Kevin Smith Memorial Trophy.
WWCC - Working With Children's Check
We have a number of activities involving junior players in the coming weeks. It is important that we have an adequate number of members available to assist with eligible Working With Children's Check certification. Our current list shows that a number of members WWCC certification has reached the expiry date. Could you please check the expiry date of your certification and speak to Wendy or Viv regarding this matter prior to Monday September 9th. Similarly if you are interested in applying for a WWCC could you also speak with Wendy or Viv by this date.
Geelong Bowls Region - Championship Events 2019-2020
A summary of GBR events for the 2019-2020 season has been posted on the notice board at the east end
of the club rooms. Entry forms are shown for those events with closing dates in September.
If you wish to enter an event please complete the entry form on the notice board and pay the $ 10
entry fee. Clearly list your name, and specific GBR event you wish to enter on the white envelope
provided and show the amount paid, then post the envelope in the slot beside the bar. GBR will not
accept late entries so entries will close at club level on the day prior to the date shown by GBR to ensure
that we meet the GBR deadline. (Please make sure that you are available to play on each of the dates
scheduled).

- Pairs Events - entries close on Monday 23rd September 2019. Ladies at 11.30am, Men's at 5.30pm.
- Veterans Events - entries close on Monday 30th September 2019. Ladies at 11.30am, Men's at 5.30pm.
Entry fee of $10.00pp (covers all events) and is payable prior to close of entries.
