Tuesday Winter Bowls
Bowls Section
The inaugural meeting of the newly formed Bowls Committee was held on Wednesday 15th May 2020 with a lot of Agenda Items presented and discussed. Many matters raised are ongoing and we will advise outcomes in due course, however members can be assured we will keep you informed with All things Bowls going forward. We are looking at fund raiser's, tournaments, Club Events etc.
We can report that Dan Priddle (Coach) conducted an informative meeting with both Saturday and Mid-Week Pennant Selectors yesterday and guidelines have been agreed. It is imperative that both Pennants have clear guidelines and vision to take Highton forward in season 2019/20. More information will be conveyed by Dan to members in weeks to come.
We are in receipt of correspondence from GBR outlining that Premier Division for season 2019/20 will comprise of 8 Teams and play 18 rounds, however stay tuned for updates pertaining to season 2020/21 as there is an upcoming GBR Delegates meeting on 27th May 2019 where there will be some interesting discussions. Sorry to keep you in suspense, however outcome will be forthcoming when we are in a position to do so.
APPAREL/UNIFORMS : As mentioned in a recent edition of Hawk Talk, we are again looking at placing Order's for any of the following items: Club Social Polo, Hoodie & Wind/Shower Jacket. These items became popular over last season and it is great to see people wearing them in Social Games and Tournaments. If you would like an item then please put your name and size on the Notice Board at the Bottom End of the Club Rooms. Should you be unsure of sizing then please contact either Ann Cotterill or Terry Driscoll and we will endeavour to help. We will be looking to place this order by the END Of JULY.
RECRUITING: Recruitment committee has been active and it gives us great pleasure to welcome the following New Bowling members to our Club: Daniel Priddle, Tom Hicks, Brad Keen & Kayde Madden. Apart from these gentlemen there are a couple of other potential recruits we are in discussion with. Positive outcome to date so please extend a warm welcome to any NEW member you may come across out on the greens.

Bowler's Arm - Policy Changes

Bowls Australia recently announced changes to the Artificial Devices Policy (effective 1st May 2019) with the removal for players to have approval from their State Governing Body to use an artificial device (bowlers arm) or to have a medical certificate to use a bowlers arm. As a result, there is now NO requirement for players using a bowlers arm in Victoria to complete an application form and provide a medical certificate to Bowls Victoria for approval. The new whole of sport IT platform Bowls Link will ask players to record if they use a bowlers arm. Bowls Victoria confirm that there will be no changes to the Bowls Victoria State Championship Events with Specific Eligibility Requirements Conditions of Play which states that 'Every delivery (including the rolling of the Jack) MUST be delivered with the Bowlers Arm' |

Entertainment Books are now available $60 each. There are a few left and I will be away for a while soon, so please contact me now if you are after one of these books. This is a fundraiser for the Club

Exercise Group
Exercises classes are held each Friday morning at 11am in our basement facility. The gentle exercises are designed to maintain/improve: mobility, strength, balance and muscle control. The sessions last for 1 hour, cost $10 per person, and are conducted by David Upfill from South Valley Clinic. New participants are most welcome.
