    Committee of Management Report

Wishing everyone a special Valentines Day. Bring your loved one, and celebrate a romantic evening amongst fellow members and guests, whilst enjoying our Friday night meals, raffles, drinks and Members Jackpot Draw.

Last Friday night's extended raffles was dedicated to our Bushfire Appeal. What a bumper night, with $2,420 raised for this worthy cause. I thank all those involved and contributed on the night. Our Members Jackpot of $500 and special Members Bonus Draw of $250 went off on same night. Special thanks to John Jackson, who promptly donated his $250 winnings to our Bushfire Appeal.

Our leased Coffee Machine provides a value add service to members and guests. All things come at a cost, so I ask that you promote and patronise this facility.

A very busy COM meeting was held Wednesday 12/2, as critical timeline/requirements are necessary, as we lead up to our Annual General Meeting 4/5/2020:

    - COM and Bowls Section Election Position Nomination forms will be put up later next week. Time to start thinking of your club involvement and the opportunity to provide support by filling vacant positions.

    - Annual Membership Fees set for next bowls season. Full Member, Veteran, Student & Junior fees will rise by $5, to offset Affiliation fees and CPI increases.

    - NB: Green Fees $8 and Locker Fees $12 will remain unchanged.

    Graeme Ott - Managing Director

    Ask an Umpire

Do you have a bowls situation which you would like clarified? Please contact our Umpire Co-ordinator, John Hulme or Don Lyne with your request and we will publish it in Hawk Talk.

This week's scenario comes from an opposition bowler on Tuesday in Midweek Bowls.

On last Saturday they were playing the last end of the game. After the last bowl was delivered the two thirds were considering the head to determine the result of the end. The Skip of the opposition side walked to the head and picked up two bowls which did not belong to his team. These two bowls were possibly part of the final count. What should have happened after this event?

    Joke

Bob walked into a Sports Bar around 9.58pm. He sat down next to a blonde at the bar and stared up at the TV.

The 10pm news was coming on. The news crew was covering a story of a man on the ledge of a large building, preparing to jump.

The blonde looked at Bob and said 'Do you think he will jump?'

Bob said, 'You know, I bet he'll jump.'

Bob placed a $20 bill on the bar and said, 'You're on!'

Just as the blonde placed her money on the bar, the guy on the ledge did a swan dive off the building, falling to his death.

The blonde was very upset, but willingly handed her $20 to Bob. 'Fairs, fair, here is your money.'

Bob replied, 'I can't take your money, I saw this earlier on the 5pm news, so I knew he would jump.'

The blonde replied, ' I did too, but I didn't think he'd do it again.'
